Position Summary & Duties:
Manage a significant portion of the major gifts program for the College of LSA's Development office, with primary focus on individual major gifts for the specific regional territories as agreed; plan and direct gift and related personal solicitation activities; direct the development and implementation of long-range and immediate plans for individual gift solicitations within the assigned region; direct the identification and evaluation of the involvement of appropriate school, college and unit officers in planning programs and direct the implementation of gift programs in the region; plan and direct programs for the identification and involvement of individuals as volunteers in gift programs and supervise the training and participation of volunteers in the region for gift solicitation efforts; act as liaison with deans, directors, Central Development, and unit development officers to develop gift solicitation programs for all schools, colleges and units within the assigned region, and provide field leadership in gift programs on behalf of and in cooperation with schools, colleges and units; solicit gifts and negotiate on behalf of the University with potential donors; plan and direct University events, including dinners, receptions and visits by officers, deans and faculty, in the region; coordinate deferred giving activities to ensure the effective presentation of appropriate trust, bequest and deferred giving instruments to volunteers and prospects. Prepare proposals for individual donor prospects and solicit gifts for the College. Analyze fundraising activities and results and develop immediate to long-range plans for improved fundraising programs at the College of LSA. Provide leadership for regional campaign fundraising activities. Provide guidance and recommendations to faculty and unit directors seeking fundraising assistance. Extensive travel and some evening and weekend work hours are required.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; 5-7 years of significant major gifts fundraising experience and/or relevant experience in sales, marketing, or other related fields; education training in planned giving; considerable experience in volunteer management and coordination; the ability to travel and participate in evening and weekend activities; considerable experience in public speaking and the preparation of written communication; excellent verbal and written communication skills. Anticipated salary range is $75,000-$90,000, commensurate with education and experience.
