Position Description

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
To plan, initiate and coordinate individual major gift cultivation and solicitation activities on behalf of the College of Engineering and to manage fundraising activities for designated market segments.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide field leadership in major gift programs on behalf of Engineering; act as liaison with central and unit development officers to coordinate future major gift prospect ("pipeline") solicitations.

Identify and evaluate prospective pipeline major gift donors.

Develop and carry out appropriate and effective programs for prospective pipeline major gift donors; coordinate the involvement of alumni volunteers and University staff, faculty and officers as appropriate in planning and implementing programs and solicitations.

Solicit and obtain pipeline major gifts from individuals and negotiate on behalf of Engineering and the University.

Appropriately record cultivation interactions and gift agreements according to College and University standards. Appropriately engage in gift stewardship and donor relations.

Plan and manage lifetime programs of involvement between Engineering and prospective pipeline major gift donors to increase levels of individual giving. Ensure the effective presentation of trust, bequest and other deferred giving instruments to volunteers and prospective pipeline major gift donors.

Plan and direct programs for the identification and involvement of individuals as volunteers in pipeline major gift programs; supervise the training and participation of volunteers in pipeline major gift solicitations.

Plan and direct Engineering development and alumni relations programs and activities including dinners, receptions and visits by the dean, officers and faculty in designated major metropolitan areas.

Serve as liaison to one or more departments as part of the College's external relations program. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Regional Programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Successful experience in face-to-face solicitation programs. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Willingness to travel, including nationwide (up to 50% of the assignment). Ability to work with minimum supervision and maximum collaboration in a team environment. Demonstrated creativity. Demonstrated ability to follow legal, ethical and professional guidelines. Ability to pursue and organize a high volume of fundraising activities simultaneously.
