Position Description

This position is part of the Marketing and Communications team in the Office of University Development (OUD). This is an interdisciplinary role that focuses on the "what" of digital communications: conceptualizing and maintaining the overall "online" marketing plan, content publishing and its integration from and with traditional marketing channels and tactics. This individual will work in a highly collaborative manner with many different facets of the organization (especially our online development team) to advance the overall fundraising and engagement expectations of the University of Michigan.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Online Marketing Strategy and Program Construction: 40%
*Works closely with OUD Marketing and Communications team to assemble meaningful online marketing strategy to reach targeted audiences - both internal and external to the University
*Website (giving.umich.edu)
*Outbound e-mail
*Other Online Engagements: micro-gifting, data acquisition and cleansing, stewardship, advocacy
*Partners with executional subject matter experts to assess, analyze, and deploy online initiatives
*Identify best marketing practice
*Builds relationships across campus to research and create opportunities for a seamless constituent experience

Project Coordination and Execution: 40%
*Responsible for the creative, on time, and on strategy delivery of all plan tactics and their appropriate maintenance
*Secures all creative elements and assets
*Reviews and ensures creative and branding linkage
*Coordinates the syndication of content across audiences and media outlets
*Works with multiple designers and creative sources to develop and manage the execution of the deliverables
*Demonstrates ingenuity and creative intuitiveness, bringing new ideas and solutions
*Author, as necessary, editorial content for social media: Facebook posts and Tweets.

Research, Assessment and Measurement: 15%
*Works internally and with outside vendors to execute all needed analysis and market research
*Develops relationships and contacts with peer institutions to provide comparative statistics and performance reviews quarterly
*Develops and presents consistent, timely reporting on internal key performance indicators
*Participate in campus wide online pilot programs. Compile and share results.

Additional Duties: 5%
*Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
*3-5 years work experience in online marketing, promotions or similar field
*Online portfolio of innovative work
*Demonstrated self-starter and quick worker
*Careful attention to detail
*Strong organization skills
*Ability to work cohesively with multiple teams
*Demonstrated creative thinker
*Ability to conceptualize and build simple tactics for digital, social and mobile platforms

Preferred Qualifications

*Agency experience or similar client marketing experience
*Excellent oral and written communications skills.
