Position Description

Market Title: Training Specialist Lead
Department: Talent Management Finance & Administration, Office of University Development
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $60-$65K
Shift/Hours/Days: Days

Reports to: Director, Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness

Supervises: Performance Specialist, Development Community Learning; Assistant Director, Development Systems Learning

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive professional education and training program for approximately 450 members of the Development Community. The program will continue to create and promote a streamlined and productive work environment through value-added and targeted training. It will continue to address existing, new, and changing developmental needs of our staff. This position will also be responsible for maintaining current programs and develop ing new systems, strategies, and programs to increase employee effectiveness and retention, and community building. The Director conducts needs analysis to identify organizational needs, and monitors the results of programs.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities = 85%:

•  Responsible for maintaining, develop m ing, assessing, tracking and the marketing of an overarching professional education and training program to meet the needs of the Development Community and other university-affiliated constituencies as needed:

- Identify, develop and maintain new fundraiser and fundraising support training programs, in partnership with the Development Community.

- Develop and utilize methods and tools to conduct needs analysis to identify organizational needs and assess developmental (training), community building requirements.

- Responsible for the creation, implementation and measurement of professional development programs, resources or seminars, including leadership, and mentoring.

- Responsible for the creation and presentation of staff retreats to facilitate team building and overall growth and increased productivity. This includes the annual OUD All Staff Retreat.

- Develop measures and implement assessments to measure the effectiveness of the training. Research and identify new areas for growth.

•  Identify, develop and implement, in partnership with other TMFA team members, Talent Management strategies for OUD and/or the Development Community to enhance retention and workplace effectiveness

- Responsible for the continued analysis of position competencies and performance feedback mechanisms within OUD and aligning these with the performance management system.

- Manage the OUD Pulse Survey process, and work with managers across OUD to best utilize the staff feedback

•  Manage two team members; providing leadership, setting and evaluating individual goals, developing and sustaining appropriate training, mentoring, and assigning and monitoring coverage of primary areas of focus. Responsible for reviewing performance and recommending merit increases.

•  Assists Director with managing the team budget.

Other Duties and Responsibilities = 15%

• Counsels and advises Development Community staff concerning work related matters and ensures that the Talent Management Office is viewed by staff as a resource in which they can discuss work related questions and concerns with the assurance of impartiality and confidentiality.

•  Work with the Talent Management Finance & Administration team to plan and implement new policies and procedures as it relates to training issues or needs.

•  Responsible for special projects and strategic analysis. Work with the Director in various functions including the identification and implementation of strategic projects.

•  Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•  Bachelor's degree; minimum of 7-10 years of experience ; organizational development and training experience strongly preferred. Masters degree preferred.

•  Experience in building and evaluating a comprehensive professional education and training programs. Experience in general Human Resources strategies and processes related to retention, leadership development, performance management, competencies.

•  Demonstrated managerial ability in leading a team of professionals, to create high performing teamwork and leading a team of individuals towards a common goal.

•  A demonstrated understanding of the role that technology plays in supporting and leveraging a learning environment.

•  Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong business partnerships, to collaborate and to work with people of varying styles and levels, in order to attain desired results.

•  Experience developing quantitative and qualitative surveys, evaluating the survey results and making appropriate assessments and recommendations.

•  Proven ability to problem-solve on daily issues that arise as well as long-term issues that require more thought, time and strategy

•  Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and reports, as well as edit and proofread.

•  Experience with administrative planning for office operations and implementation of decisions relating to policies and procedures.

•  Experience working in a team oriented environment. Extremely Customer Service Oriented.

•  Ability to manage confidential information in a professional and discreet manner.

•  Ability to prioritize work for self and others.

•  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

•  Excellent PC skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel and database programs.
