Program Requirements

What are the elements of D-SIP's award-winning program?

Paid work

Twelve-week internships let you earn a summer wage working alongside some of the U-M’s top fundraising professionals, gaining high-level experience and building your resume.

  • “I was given the opportunity to help launch a broad movement to increase philanthropic awareness around campus... It was an experience I couldn't find in a classroom, and it was very attractive to employers looking for commitment and follow-through.”
    —Brian Restuccia, D-SIP ’07
Coursework

A weekly three-credit philanthropy course taught by U-M faculty with presentations from leading philanthropists and U-M leaders helps you network for your future.

  • “The classroom component to D-SIP was great... I even still keep my D-SIP binder on my desk at my current position!”
    —Kellen Sarb, D-SIP ’07
Leadership development

Through workshops and retreats you'll build your professional community, reflect on your strengths and develop your personal brand—leadership skills you’ll need to build a career and pursue the causes that matter to you.

  • “My project was focused on building a tradition of engaging and giving among students and recent graduates. The success of this project, along with the leadership and management skills I gained through the D-SIP program, led me to my current position at the Ross School of Business.”
    —Sophia Luong, D-SIP ’07
