Giving to the U-M's M-PACT program is a terrific way to help promising in-state undergraduate students with financial need.
Launched in 2005, M-PACT is designed to help the best and brightest resident students who otherwise could not afford a Michigan education.
Open to all income-eligible resident undergraduate students, M-PACT assistance supplements traditional financial aid.
Here's how it works: For years the U-M has offered all in-state students financial aid packages that close the gap between the cost of their education and the amount they can afford to pay. The packages are a combination of grants, loans and work-study. Through M-PACT, eligible students' financial aid packages include higher percentages of grant support and decreased percentages of loans.
The University believes the number of students receiving M-PACT grants will grow as Michigan 's high-achieving high-school students realize that the U-M is an affordable option for them.
As part of The Michigan Difference, the U-M is seeking to raise a permanent endowment of $60 million to support M-PACT.
