Comprehensive Cancer Center
About Us
With the opening of the Cancer Center building in May 1997, patient care and research were located under one roof for the first time on the University of Michigan Medical Center campus. This building facilitated communication between specialists and the quick transfer of research findings to benefit patients. The physicians who work in partnership offer comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and support services dedicated to cancer patients, in an environment that reflects our mission of the conquest of cancer through innovation and collaboration. Our approach to cancer care and research has served as a model for other centers at the Health System, as well as a host of prominent academic cancer centers nationwide.
The Cancer Center is ranked ninth in the nation for grant funding received from the National Cancer Institute based on the number of grants awarded. Over 350 U-M faculty members maintain membership in the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center, requiring both an active practice in the clinical care of cancer patients and collaboration in research.
